Basically Hates All European Players Luka Doncic Draft saying he is a bad prospect Nikola Jokic - Slower than Snail, He woddles, cant jump Kristaps Porzingis was a bad pick for the Knicks
Great thanks for that. In other news, Tiago Splitter most recent and only NBA coaching gig was with the Nets.
I’m perfectly fine with Splitter. Trust within the staff is huge. You think the Rockets had that last year? I don’t. One job or not, it has to begin somewhere. It’s not like he’s the lead assistant.
Same Splitter. He was a solid role player. He was an overseas stash pick that maybe got too much hype as "best big outside the NBA". One those where advanced stats says he's much better than his average stats. Like a less athletic Steven Adams
A tight knit coaching staff is just as important as a tight knit rotation. We heard from several people that the coaching staff did not see eye to eye the past few seasons (Silas, Lucas, Weaver especially). The coaching staff was also not really vibing with the front office. A united front is very important. The players can’t feel like they can whine to some Assistant coach and the coach may make them feel like they’re right. I can tell Udoka’s staff is going to be in sync philosophically and if they have disagreements the players will have no idea. As far as the players are concerned, it’s all an extension of the HC who is an extension of the GM. Still think we need an offensive lead assistant though.
A Spurs connection hire. As per wikipedia on his coaching tenure. Coaching career On April 24, 2018, Splitter was hired by the Brooklyn Nets, as a pro scout, with added duties related to on-court player development. On September 23, 2019, he was promoted by the Nets to player development coach. He parted ways with the Nets in May 2023. In 2021, Splitter was named an assistant coach of the Brazilian national team. In 2022, Splitter was the head coach of the Brazilian U23 national team at the GLOBL Jam Tournament in Toronto, Canada, where the team won the gold medal.
He was a very good defensive player. Great fundamentals. He has been player development coach with the Nets since 2019. Some young (at the time) players who came through there while Splitter and/or Udoka were assistants included Bruce Brown, Jarrett Allen, and Nic Claxton. Definitely some evidence that he could be a good defensive coach.
Looks like Tiago has been splitting his development minutes into full time with Jocky! About time the time has paid off with patience.
