Looks like Minn is acquiring ammo to move up and getting a QB. Good trade. Maybe could’ve squeezed a 5th rounder out of them too. But then again I’ve heard ppl say NIL has killed day 3 of the draft. At least this draft.
Trading up for JJ McCarthy? Which GM is asking to be fired? Penix/Nix 2nd round >>>>>>>> Fields for 3rd/4th/5th >>>>>>>> Spoiler 2023 1-1 Bryce Young 1-2 CJ Stroud 1-4 Anthony Richardson 2022 1-20 Kenny Pickett 2021 1-1 Trevor Lawrence 1-2 Zach Wilson 1-3 Trey Lance 1-11 Justin Fields 1-15 Mac Jones 2020 1-1 Joe Burrow 1-5 Tua Tagovailoa 1-6 Justin Herbert 1-26 Jordan Love 2019 1-1 Kyler Murray 1-6 Daniel Jones 1-15 Dwayne Haskins 2018 1-1 Baker Mayfield 1-3 Sam Darnold 1-7 Josh Allen 1-10 Josh Rosen 1-32 Lamar Jackson 2017 1-2 Mitchell Trubisky 1-10 Patrick Mahomes 1-12 Deshaun Watson 2016 1-1 Jared Goff 1-2 Carson Wentz 1-26 Paxton Lynch 2015 1-1 Jameis Winston 1-2 Marcus Mariota 2014 1-3 Blake Bortles 1-22 Johnny Manziel 1-32 Teddy Bridgewater 2013 1-16 EJ Manuel 2012 1-1 Andrew Luck 1-2 Robert Griffin III 1-8 Ryan Tannehill 1-22 Brandon Weeden 2011 1-1 Cam Newton 1-8 Jake Locker 1-10 Blaine Gabbert 1-12 Christian Ponder 2010 1-1 Sam Bradford 1-25 Tim Tebow
same even had to reread what the trade was for just in case I missed JJ's name in the announcement lol. still a decent trade considering how deep this draft is and the potential for MIN to be made next year
I had hoped we would trade up from 59 because I see real value in the 30-50 range. Instead Nick trades back and adds a valuable 2nd rd pick in 2025 and moves up to 6th rd with one of our 7ths this year. Can't complain about that really. He also has the ability to move up a few spots if he sees someone slip that we really like. Guys that I really like that could be available in that range... WRs: Ladd McConkey (he's rising an could go late 1st or early 2nd) Ricky Pearsall (another riser that looks like an early 2nd) Xavier Worthy (thought KC would take him, but he may now slip into 2nd with Hollywood signing) Keon Coleman (His 40 time killed him in 1st, but his play speed is excellent.) LBs: Edgerrin Cooper (late 1st or to mid-2nd) Junior Colson (mid-late 2nd) Payton Wilson (wild card who could go early 2nd to mid-3rd, injuries probably keep him from consideration in 1st, but he's got talent) DT: Johnny Newton (Not my fav, but a lot of folks like him and his injury could allow him to slip in 2nd) T'Vondre Sweat (Not sure he's a fit for Coach D, but he would take 2 OL off the other guys and be a brick wall for any runs up the gut) Braden Fiske (He seems like a great fit given his size and athleticism. May go higher than 42 when all said and done.) Kris Jenkins (Champion and played well in big games. Would like him better at 59.) CB: Ennis Rakestraw (seems to be slipping a bit and maybe we get him at #42) There's a few good interior OL in this range (Beebe and Frazier), but truly doubt we spend our top pick here. There should be at least 6 of these 12 guys available at 42. Would be ecstatic with McConkey, Pearsall, Cooper, Sweat, or Fiske at #42.
If we were running a regular 3-4 I would totally be on board for Sweat, even with a first round pick. I'm not sure a 4-3 where lineman need to actually beat people and get into the backfield will utilize his true value in the NFL.
I wonder if he’s aware of this photo? Has to be one of the funniest meme’s to come out of Free Agency.
Vita Vea is who Sweat reminds me of. And that guy is a terror to block and can get at the QB. You really have to double that man or he’ll lay out a QB. Don’t remember if the Buc run a 3-4 tho. Do know Boles lives to Blitz.
Dan O said Minn is acquiring assists to target Drake Maye. I think they might package picks and J.J. to move into the top three.
JJ McCarthy is Fools Gold. Forget his measurables and athleticism. He misses way too many easy throws.
