I really wish Norm wouldn't partake in conversation with the likes of Destiny, Shmuley, Ben etc and would sit down with actual scholars and academics like himself. But then you realize there's no such thing from the pro-izraeli side.

I was listening to a focus group with voters in MI over the weekend who were saying they weren’t going to vote for Biden because of Israel. The one question the moderator didn’t ask and the one I think is the most important is “If Trump wins do you think things are going to be better for the Palestinians?”

Wow. What drives a person to do something like this for a people they have no relation to? I can’t imagine the state of mind of this man that led him to make this decision. It’s one thing to argue on the internet or even demonstrate with signs. But to kill yourself? I shouldn’t speculate, but it makes me think he had suicidal tendencies to start with. In which case, praising this act as some heroic martyrdom leaves me feeling very uneasy, regardless of how righteous the cause may be.
Angry people often care more about signaling their outrage, regardless of the consequences, than making rational choices to try to bring about the best outcome.
Self immolation as a form of protest has been thing for a while. Arab spring, Vietnam war, and a lot of other things as well.
