Taking place in the US next Summer. 4 CONCACAF teams have qualified via the Nations League with a further 2 to join them via some qualification process. US and Mexico are 1 seeds, along with Brazil and Argentina. Jamaica and Panama are the other 2 qualifiers and the rest of COMNEBOL will fill out the brackets. Houston will get 2 first round games, one of which will have Mexico, and a quarterfinal (that could include Argentina). 14 stadiums in total, many of which will also be World Cup 2026 sites. Tournament starts on 6/20/24 and the final is 7/14/24 in Miami. Full draw will be completed on 12/7.
Feels like a group we should get out of but Panama has been pretty tough of late. Still, a fully healthy US squad should handle them with relative ease. Question is, if they don't make it out of the group, does that put any pressure on the federation to finally rid themselves of Berhalter...or do they feel they have to stick with him fully through the WC cycle? I think if they fail to get through, they have to move on from him. Can't take the risk of going into 2026 with him and continuing with the abject mediocrity that comes along when we're hosting and expectations will be at least a quarterfinal.
