How wouldn’t he be nervous? He’s never played real competitive basketball before and now he’s in an NBA arena, shaking heads to toe… I hope he doesn’t develop any ticks or other mentals from the shock. That’s my problem with these bulsht leagues like OTE and Ignite, these kids are never in a real competitive situation, they are dollhouses… We saw it with Jalen Green and Kuminga, how pathetic they looked in the Big League. I think the Thomsons and Henderson will be not much different. That’s why I was advocating for someone like Jarace Walker, you have a better idea of what you’re getting. NCAA and the Euroleagues are at least competitive leagues…
It might not seem like much but hey, baby steps. This guy who came in with absolutely close to 0 shooting ability is knocking down a three and taking step back middies with confidence in his 3rd game. Perhaps he is the chosen one...
LOL! To me if the shot goes in it looks beautiful to me! It's pretty funky lol, but he just needs it to keep defenses honest. People were worried he'd be another Ben Simmons but at least Amen is not terrified of missing a shot like Ben Simmons is. I think his confidence is insane, he came out in that first game trying some wacky stuff. If the man is open, he's launching, he DGAF. This could be a problem if it gets like Westbrook for sure but..this year and these formative years we do need to see if he can improve his shot
This is a big deal IMO. His handles are absolutely lacking and need to be worked on but the fact that he's made improvements on his shooting form this quickly and is NOT hesitant in shooting it is huge. Handles will come and he will be a monster.
His form looked better on that stepback middie. Honestly he's making the OTE -> NBA transition faster than I thought he would. The first game was the only one where he looked like the game was too fast for him. I think he'll be a valuable bench contributor this year and hopefully his minutes will gradually go up as the season goes on.
I don't really care about his offense, which has been somewhat better than expected anyway. That'll come in time. He should be getting 30+ minutes a night because he's already one of our best defensive players. No reason to limit him when he's already so effective on that end.
Ausar looked okay. Miller looked okay. Lively okay. Chet looked good but he is not a rookie per se. Other than them, I see nobody yet.
Chet qualifies as a rookie and I think he may win rookie of the year, but the NBA is really hot for Wemby to be a star whether he deserves it or not. Amen will be awesome by the end of the year, but probably won’t get very many votes if any, because of playing time and he plays for the Rockets. In the long run, I think Amen is the best of them all. Wemby and Chet might also be superstars, but they will not last very long in my opinion. Chet is going to be great while healthy. His BBIQ is right there with Amen’s.
