Agreed. Not this BS again. Just get the damn veteran shotblocker/rebounder. I don't even want Tate here anymore, much less as part of the turnstile down low.
I think that moving Tate to the 5 was just a nice way to remove him from the rotation eventually. Signing Bullock and having Cam step up leaves no minutes for Tate at any position.
If he could shoot the corner 3 and play consistent defense without fouling I think he would be treated like and respected like PJ. But at his size if he can't do those things where does he play on a team that's actually trying to win? I like his heart and hustle but the skills just aren't good enough.
I think we have hidden Tate for far too long......time to dust him off and see what we got and then trade him if necessary. You cannot just hide him because he was injured as a 12th man. Not being Good enough is just a way of saying he is on borrowed time ........
lol. They not "moving" Tate to 5. He's putting the team on blast to be ready to play whatever is asked of you. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Well who do you want him playing in front of? Bullock? Landale? Cam? Jeff Green?Tari? Bari(if we are speaking of the 5). Amen should run the second unit which means Tate would have to be off ball. Spotting up or cutting. He isn't very good at either. And you shrink the floor for Thompson. If you play him on ball now Amen is spotting up. It just doesn't work. So yes. Trade him or bury him.
Put into the shoes of Udoka, he should be plug in player in any line up...... I do agree that next to kids like Amen or Cam or Tari, he is not going to look that good. If he can be plugged next to Dillon or Fred, would be best.
Shooting may be a big problem for a few Rockets. I think Tate is a fine role player provided the other players can shoot or the other players can score without spacing. As a center...other teams are likely to put their center on him so he might as well play center.
I think you under value spacing lol. If Tate beats out the guys and can help the team win I'm all for it. But in an open competition if he loses out so be it. We both want what's best for the team. We just see two different paths back to relevance.
If you have elite snipers ....problem Rockets always had mediocre or average shooters most of the time.....sprinkled with EGo ..... Bullock is the only one that shoots good numbers. If you are a playmaking threat, people are still going to follow you around. You never know with Tate, I sure have not seen him for 2 years, he might just improved his shooting. IDK.
I still don't understand why we re-signed Tate other than GM-ego reasons ("I found this guy from nowhere, so damn right we're resigning him")
No he's not lol. He's great at finishing with his left around the rim, he's a great secondary ball handler & passer. Plus he's a solid defender. What have you been watching
