I was able to go to two overnight parties at Aladdin's Castle when I was a kid. All you could play all night long. It was magic. Both times it was a surprise when they opened the doors at 7am to kick us out.
My friend's parents did that at Speedy's once. Unlimited play on the games and rides overnight. I ended up falling asleep on one of the racing games. It was around the time Super Street Fighter 2 came out.
The Beltway near Town & Country was The Bangles…not sure about over there. Also opening a highway with a concert is the most Houston thing ever
HAH...Speedy's never invited us to spend the night, they spent a lot of time trying to kick us out though.
I was long gone by April of '92 when Genesis used the abandoned Good Year blimp base and hangar to rehearse for an upcoming tour. https://www.genesis-news.com/forum/index.php?thread/1874-genesis-rehearsals-1992/
Wait what?! I didn't know this was a thing. Haha. I have good memories about Aladdin's Castle, but that would have been awesome.
It's crazy. I went to Lamar from 82-86. It was the most racially/economically diverse school I've ever seen and my career has been in education from the mid-90's to now.
Your thinking of Eastside Park. There's a not very active facebook group- https://www.facebook.com/groups/54792417752/
‘Rich’ kid friends or friends of friends. I think it was $100 for the night, which back in the 80’s, was a lot of money to spend on a birthday party.
That's pretty cool, but definitely expensive! Back in the 80s no way my parents would have agreed. I definitely had some friends of friends that might have paid for me though, haha
Stoneybrook Park was right in here next to the bayou. Excellent meet-up spot before and after school, and then later. Had wooden bridges and lookout spots. https://maps.app.goo.gl/cDPJPbuTQ8trDga47
