No, there are never guarantees. I don't even know if Lopez is remotely interested in us, but if so the state of our roster is obvious. I don't think we can even lie to Lopez about contending for a championship or building around him. We're young and we suck, so if he signs with us and is pissy about that I'd be surprised. We have multiple team needs: defense, shooting, and veteran presence. Lopez has all three. A player in his late 20s is in his prime and probably wants a large long-term deal with the opportunity to play for another big contract. Players like FVV (29) and Cam Johnson (27) would be nice additions, but they won't necessarily be happier or more professional here than Lopez. Nor do I think they would be easier to recruit.
If Sengun is too immature to accept his bench role, it'll tell you all you need to know about his character so you'll have to get rid of him. Brook Lopez isn't signing to be a bench guy.
Brook Lopez has a ring already. He'll come here and accept a bench role if he wants the most money he can get.
Getting Brook Lopez for defensive purposes is one thing but getting 35 yo dude to bench sengun for 2 years, giving him 23 minutes would be a 68 iq move and i'm being generous with the number. It's actually a move you'd expect from a 6 months old monkey that suffer from early onset Parkinson's. You have to find a way to give Sengun 28-30 mins. None of the kids can shoot and you are benching the only dude who can consistenty find the open man. We would be a laughing stock.
Aruba not a Garuba fan? I bet Ime is. If he becomes a corner 3 specialist with his defensive energy and Ime's guidance and he's healthy, he needs to start seeing at least 20mpg as this is year 3 now. Would love Brook off the bench. Don't think it happens. Who do we sign for 24mpg? Brooks? He's a chucker who can't shoot and he's a **** talker that can't back it up. I bet he mentally never recovers from embarrassing himself so bad this year. No way do i want him eating into Tari and Garuba's minutes. If you're not going to play Garuba and TyTy another year, why not just trade them? 36 minutes jump for Bari but Green goes down? You probably have to do 30mpg for all 3 of Bari, Alpy and Green if you want to fit in vets and still have enough minutes for guys who need the minutes. 18 for Amen...man..Tari played more than that last year and i thought Silas hated him with how little he played. 16 for KPj? That's a massive demotion for a guy that provides spot up shooting on a team without shooting. I'd rather he had the green light off the bench or be the guy playing 24mpg at the SF.
Do the Raptors have a point guard replacement that i can't think of right now or is it just a cap situation over there? FVV has played 36.8mpg average over 4 years, entering his likely last big contract. He wont want 2 years unless he's getting huge minutes like in Toronto. So why leave Toronto(unless they really don't want him back or there is a replacement i'm overlooking). Taking less years, more money to play 30 minutes or less? I don't see it. 29 turning 30 by all star break-i'm sure he'd take less money to play big minutes on a contender.
We can’t have 2-3 non shooters on the floor. Brook Lopez starting would provide the rim protection and floor spacing we need. We’re gonna have at least 2 new starters next season. Need some vets to balance things. It’s just the reality of what’s to come.

Lopez is 35 this season and probably should start. How many 36 year old starting centers are there in the nba? 37? This is obviously not the long term solution when the core is 21 years old.
I like Garuba. Just think minutes are hard to come by. I’d love to keep Garuba. He’s showed real improvement in very limited minutes. But we will have to create minutes if we want to bring in good free agents. Point taken; nothing wrong with dropping Jabari, Green, and Sengun to 30 min. I wouldn’t go lower than that though. And agreed that we have to get Amen more than 18 min.
FVV (4yr/$160) and Dillon Brooks (4yr/$80) aren’t going to do anything for the young players on the Rockets. They’re going to collect a paycheck as the team wins 30 games and gives up the #5 pick to OKC. The ease with which you guys buy into the organization’s propaganda is truly baffling.
Sure, he's a team player, he'll sit behind scrubs if Udoka pulls a Silas and plays guys based on draft status rather than merit. Will Sengun accept his bench role?
I don’t think so but we’ll see. Personally I don’t think Udoka will start Sengun at the 4 and watch him get toasted every night. He never did that with the Celtics, always starts the better defender. Jabari is going to come out hitting 3’s and defense will be next level. Lopez and Jabari spacing the floor 5-out would make Green and Amen absolutely lethal. Sengun is going to be amazing too but at the 4 his defense will overshadow his offense. Unless of course he shows up with a better 3pt shot that could tip the scales.
It’s slim pickings at the 5 if we miss out on BLo. Our best options after him might be a Hernangomez or Hayes trade from NO.
Brook lopez would start lol , jabari would be at the 3 sengun at 4 Well I think he will improve somewhat but I don't think they would bench sengun
I had assumed the rockets wanted him to come off the bench until I read this thread. I think benching Sengun to start Lopez would be a big mistake, I hope that's not the plan. I think they may even be able to play together. But I think whoever they get should be a backup to Sengun.
