You don't watch the Rockets is all I can guess. Christian Wood doesn't play or practice hard and isn't really very competitive. The Rockets also are not going to meet his contract requests and he is blocking Sengun, and either Banchero or Holmgren. The Rockets needed to clear minutes and the Rockets needed to get rid of a malcontent. There were agents that did not want their clients to play with the Rockets because of Wood and Porter. The Rockets SO FAR are not making moves like they are contending. They are giving their young players opportunities to play and eliminating problem players.
Dort is significantly better than Tate, and he’s younger no team in the NBA would take Tate over Dort
This claim of "better" is missing my point. My point is: a) Tate is better at certain things than Dort, b) Those certain things Tate is better at appear to fill more immediate needs for the Blazers roster as currently constructed (strong guard play, weak forward/down low players) and, therefore, c) A trade to the Blazers with Tate would appear to have more value for a team looking for "win-now" players than Dort whose main strength is defending guards. Also, disagree with "significantly better" (most of Dort's advanced stats are poor), and in any event 22 v 26 years old only matters if they're looking at a rebuild, which they are not. As per reports, they want "win now" talent, and that probably means a player that can enter their starting lineup Day 1.
Westbrook adjusted? You are a good knowledgeable poster but Westbrook didn't adjust anything. The Rockets coaching staff and the best player in the league that year (Harden was averaging 38 points a game at that point) both bent over backwards and adjusted for Westbrook. How many elite players would adjust for a lesser player than just joined their team? Westbrook ultimately left the Rockets because they would not change everything to the way he wanted it.... and I mean EVERYTHING..... from what time they would review film, to not being called on in film review.... to him wanting to change how MDA ran practices (shoot arounds), to what time the practices started and what was reviewed.... to the philosophy on offense and defense.
adjustment and westbrick have never ever been relatable. can't believe I even read that silly assumption
Spread a lie enough and it becomes the truth. Please show verification that an agent has kept a player off our roster because of Wood.
LOL. Nook has proven his insights. There is nothing he can trot out to verify this. The request is asinine.
I heavily disagree Dort is capable of being an All-Defense caliber defender…all Tate does on defense is hustle Dort is 6’3 with a 6’8 wingspan while also built like tank and strong as hell…Tate is 6’4 with a 6’8 wingspan…Dort could play the undersized PF role like Tate if he wanted to Dort the past 2 years is taking almost 7 threes a game while shooting around 34%…the percentage is below average, but teams still have to respect that Tate meanwhile takes barely 3 threes a game and can barely shoot over 30%…teams completely ignore no team in the NBA is choosing Tate over Dort unless Tate’s own momma is the GM Dort is more of a win-now player than Tate…Tate might not even be viable in a playoff series because he’s a 6’4 PF that can’t shoot…Dort can guard the best perimeter player on the opposing team like OKC had him doing against Harden, and Dame needs a defender like that in the backcourt with him anyways…he doesn’t need Tate and his layups/no threes then not to mention getting the 12th pick as opposed to the 17th pick from Houston Tate isn’t a starter on a good team unless that team has insane offense like the 20-21 Nets and he could play the Bruce Brown role…other than that, he’s a backup with limited skills and no shooting
I'm not saying we didn't sell low!! I'm just suggesting that we got something out of it (even though we MAY have been able to get something more). Better than nothing or selling for pennies on the $ Ie we didn't buy high sell low.... we basically got the guy for cash and sold him for a first round pick.
The only person happier than y’all that Christian Wood is traded to Dallas is Christian Wood. This was a toxic situation that he didn’t sign up for. In his first 9 games as a Rocket with Harden still here he was looking like a legit second star putting up 23/10, and was the favorite for MIP that year before getting injured. Stone got the most he could get for him but that’s the downside to tanking, everyone is going to undervalue your assets because of the losing, even though next year by this time it will look like a joke that Dallas got him for a 26th pick, c’est la vie.
what was the rockets record, asking for a friend at least you're hanging on for dear life. all the other wood only fans have been dead silent and hiding since yesterday
agreed , but it’s close . And Dorts age is a big factor . Tate has low tread and can still improve . and actually , if that team needed a 3/4 more than a 2/3 they might take Tate . Hell even on peremiter D (he didn’t get as much use) but Tate is very good . Tate is prolly better than dort . Dort is younger and is a bit better shooter . I love Tate tho . Many teams WOULD take dory because his age .
Their record was 11-10 until Wood got injured, then they proceeded to go on a historic 20 game losing streak without Wood. Much like this season, while the team was not good with Wood playing, it was down right historically bad without him, showing his impact on winning. This was also the reason why such an analytically driven front office targeted Wood in the first place, because the data said so. Next year he will be able to play the role that he and the Rockets originally wanted for him, and shine as a secondary star playing off of a superstar.
most teams don’t need an undersized F…Dort and Tate are basically the same size except Dort is significantly stronger Dort’s perimeter D can be elite as we saw against Harden…Tate could never Prolly? Tate is in no way, shape, or form better than Dort not just age…Dort is flat out better and more useful
wrong. in his first 9 games played as noted in your post the rockets were 4-5. since you want to highlight the first 21 games. they were 9-12 when he played. Not 11-10. So in summary they sucked still but most of us knew that already He missed 4 games prior to that historic losing streak. you know what the rockets record was in those 4 games he didn't play. 3 wins and 1 loss. LOL
