It boggles my mind how a debut album from a band can be this fully-formed, confident, and sophisticated. I know they had a little lead time in the industry before this, but that still doesn't explain it.
I know I just posted that I was listening to this album, but I was unaware that there was an accoustic-only version of Modern Guilt by Beck. I can't stop listening. I think I may have a problem:
interpol-antics modest mouse-good news for people who love bad news tv on the radio-dear science and desperate youth, blood thirsty babes the national-boxer band of horses-everything all the time
Antics is such an underrated album. Granted, it isn't another "Turn On the Bright Lights" but it has several really good songs with the best song being, and maybe the best song in the entire Interpol discography, "Evil".
haha i saw a tweet the other day that mentioned it was the 15th anniversary of the release of "boxer" hence i've now been on a 2000-2010 indie kick. revisiting all that stuff. bloc party-silent alarm might be my fav album of that entire time frame
You might give Pineapple Thief a listen … same vibe as PT … and now they share the drummer. IIRC PT is releasing a new CD this summer.
To each their own, I try to keep an open mind and enjoy music from all decades and genres. Not bad, Archie is a Houston connection too. I enjoy the James Brown cover also.
