Well, it was a weak offer because Cleveland secretly negotiated a contract with Watson, and Cleveland knew that Watson would only accept a trade to them. I have a feeling that Atlanta’s trade package was superior, and the Texans were on the verge of accepting that one. But Watson had to waive his no trade clause. I’m glad the ordeal is over and that the Texans at least got their demand of 3 first round picks. The NTC truly did deflate anything other than a respectable return for what I expect will become an MVP (in Watson) as soon as his next full season.
The former Texans QB had a no trade clause and multiple accusations of sexual assault which made it difficult to maximize trade value. The DHop trade is another matter. That was pure hubris on the part of our former HC/GM/OC.
