Gordon is better used as a piece to a bigger trade next year than traded now for a pick in the late 20's imo. Wood lowered his value with those antics earlier this year, so can probably get moved for more value next year as well.
If you don't get an offer you value over what he brings to the team, that's not necessarily a failure.
Imo wood adds no value to this team as currently constructed. You can make the case for Gordon’s veteran leadership but if you can move him for a future asset you have to make it happen to move the team forward. 2 seconds a late first I don’t care. The guy deserves to play on a contender and the kids deserve the minutes. His value isn’t going up past this deadline. The time to make a move was now. Maybe they overvalued him but that’s part of negotiating. You have to be able to adjust expectations based on the market and future projections.
And once the market dictated that wasn’t going to happen they should’ve adjusted their asking price to get a deal done. Imo the most important goal moving forward should be getting the young guys more opportunities to grow.
I'm sure if that happens he still is a veteran presence that can help in practice and off the court issues.
I wish Gordon the best with his new team, hopefully he decides to come back and retire a Rocket.... One can only hope....
