He's expiring. probably hard to get a second rounder for a half season rental. maybe they extend him one more year with partial guarantee to drum up some trade interest.
I have no problem with House the "on court" player. He's worth a 3yr $15-20m contract with the 3rd partially guaranteed. My main concern is the roster. We are 15-17 players deep as it stands now. If a trade comes along for EG or Wall we may have to do a 3 for 1 type exchange, which would force us to cut 1 or 2 players with long term futures here. That would be unfortunate. How many times have we had to cut a 15th man on the roster only to have them blow up and blossom somewhere else? Eagerly awaiting Bima to comment on how soon we could trade him after signing.
Doesn't make much sense Hopefully a short term deal for House to prove himself again and then be flipped for a pick
Great post! I along with many or excuse me most fans of this team want him gone yesterday! He has the iq of a bowling ball and sucks in the clutch. We have wayyyy too many good young players to have him take away their playing time. He will poison the young players by taking them to all the wrong places after games. I’d get rid of him just to give #4 to its rightly deserving owner.
It depends — either immediately, or no sooner than 6 months. in all likelihood, due to expected contract demands, we won’t be able to trade him for 6 months … which is probably why they are talking now, if you count out 6mos from now. Reason: restrictions on extend-and-trades for regular veterans limit his next salary to 105% of last year of current contract (also limited to 3 yrs vs 4 and 5% raises v 8%). If you sign within those parameters, you can be traded immediately or whenever. But to prevent teams from doing extensions for more money/years then later trading (as a loophole), they place a 6 month rule on any extension above those parameters. fwiw: per Larry Coon, there has only been two Extend-n-Trades in the NBA—garnett and melo, probably due to those restrictions and the players wanting more than a 5% increase, or why bother, type thing. So, if he signs an extension, I’d expect it to trigger the 6 month wait on trades.
