The only interesting tidbit to take from his quotes are that Hopkins refers to himself in the third person.
He's not going to sit out or he'll lose money that can't/won't be given back. Teams now have leverage when it comes to this.
Now you're just assuming. Let it go. We know the Cardinals wouldn't have traded for Hop knowing he would want more money and not be willing to honor his request for a raise.
Nah https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/04/17/deandre-hopkins-wasnt-surprised-by-trade/ Hopkins said on Friday, via multiple reporters, that he’ll let his agent and the team handle contract matters while he works to settle in with his new team during its virtual offseason program.
Bills are usually good at this thing... Think it was Billy Beane who started the whole mantra, "...better to trade a player too early than too late." Bill Belichick followed this as well and made it a habit to release/part ways with a player one year too early than a year too late.
Yeah, but the reason to do this is to be able to "sell high and buy low". Pats always get at least decent value for their vets and pick up their "new" ones for free after they've been cut or for a low rounder or even a swap of low round picks. Bill @#$%ed up the formula. He didn't "buy high and sell low". He "was high and sold for a ham sandwich"!!! Guess he must have had the munchies.
It's a direct quote from the article but not a direct quote from Hopkins. The like you posted from ESPN and the one YOLO posted from Pro Football Talk both say something similar though PFT adds "while he works to settle in with his new team during its virtual offseason program." However, neither statement from either article is a direct quote from Hopkins.
Right.. which I explained in the very next line after what you quoted when I said this.... "That is what the ESPN reporter believed after being on the call. I don't know what else to say." But thank you for reclarifying my clarification....
Well there is a bright side to all of this. Now Hopkins won't have to appear on the Bill O'Brien Show every Sunday. Instead he can actually play some football again.
I don't know... after seeing a slowed and passive DJ running the ball when he did get carries last year, does his story he wasn't injured make you more optimistic or less? Last year:
Because he's a 'consummate professional and character guy' according to how bob defines it and I bet the owners would never let it happen
Spoiler Not saying much but they'll get "something" out of Johnson. Good for him Hope all of his baby's mommas enjoy the new influx of cash. As well as the future baby's mommas.
Happy for Hop, just not sure if Cards will make the play-offs before he's 30. Hoping DJ uses the trades negativity to fuel a great comeback season for him. I've always like the versatility in his game and he gives DW a large target coming out of the backfield or split out. I'm really hoping we get a stud DL or Edge at #40, that would help a little with the lopsidedness of the deal, Glad we picked up Cooks, because any WR drafted at 40 would have been constantly compared or tied to DHop and that's just not fair. The trade is on BOB, hopefully the player and picks give us something to get excited about while the world buns.
