One thing I am convinced of is that Eric Gordon is perhaps one of the keys to this season. There's a lot of talk about how "hot garbage" he is, but from what I have seen EG is still a solid player who can be streaky but can have borderline all-star potential. That being said, however, this team performs way better when EG has a good game. Now that Capela is gone, there is a lot more pressure for EG to step up as the third best player on the team. He has potential to do so, although he lacks the defense that Covington brings. He needs to make up for that with elite shooting. He also likes to drive in, and draws fouls well, so he now has more room to operate. Our small ball lineup only works if guys like EG step up and hit their shots. If the high paid veteran EG isn't making them, good luck instilling work ethic into the young guns. EG should be practicing 1,000 threes every single day. He needs to be our Klay Thompson, the guy that was the third best player on that warriors team. For the Rockets case, that would be the best scenario as they are going to rely heavily on EG going forward.
he has always been that, and now with russ will get far more wide open 3 pointers instead of contested ones. he is a cornerstone of our offense a lot more valuable than a lot fans think. he's still getting his legs back and getting back into shape. once he's there we are far more dangerous.
Well, attack and finish or kick out. His game fits that well. He also can stand still and catch finish. So he should be alright in the new system. We need James to do the same.
Still do not think the 50 pt game against Utah reflects fully who he is now. He isn't garbage either but he also needs the ball in his hands to score big numbers.
He's too streaky, runs too hot and cold. His shot isn't as good as Klay Thompson, who you can rely on to hit open threes. I've never liked Gordon's form, and the arc on his shot that he requires to always be mechanically perfect on his form in order to make the shot.
His FG% was 40.9% last season and 37.4% this season. It is below his career average, team average, league average or any other NBA team average, which average do you want to know?
Harden and Russ are going to have their impact. If Gordon plays well, it usually gives us a 3 headed monster. In the playoffs he's been fantastic. Let's just get him there healthy!
Agreed! I'm glad that this is an issue with our extra scoring punch, and not with one of our stars anymore. People quickly forget how this was a major issue with CP3 and proved to be THE reason we didn't make it to the finals. Not trying to change the script of this thread, but Westbrook's health not being a concern (I'll take the b2b sits) is such a luxury. Gordon just needs to be good by playoff time, but I agree with you.
give me his 3 point % in the last 3 months compared with players that shot at least as many threes as him's 3 point %
Not something new. When Gordon plays close to a third superstar, the team becomes really hard to beat. Luckily for us, Gordon has been good for us in the playoffs. Just needs to stay healthy.
