Reminded me somehow of an old favorite, Very Bad Things (which has aged poorly). This movie obviously being 10x better.
It just won the top prize at SAG. I believe Parasite and 1917 are the frontrunners for best pic at the Oscars.
Unfortunately yes. Just wait for it to hit netflix. It's what I normally do with subtitle films. That way you can watch it twice, the first time to read it and the 2nd the picture itself.
What if the accents are really thick, like when I turn on subtitles for movies with heavy Cockney or Scottish or Alabama accents even though I speak English?
A mildly entertaining film. But as an apologia for fraud, theft, violence, not very convincing. Don't know if it was the writers' intent, but the rich family was more likable.
I've watched it 3 times and I'm still trying to find the critically acclaimed aspect. I'm not going to say I'm a movie buff/snob but I like pretty much all genres and this movie isn't an all-timer for me. Right now it's tied with Silence of the Lambs, The Matrix, Seven, Seven Samurai, etc with an 8.6 rating on IMDB all-time list and slightly ahead of movies like Saving Private Ryan, Spirited Away, etc. Very good movie but not great.
I’m missing something on this movie. For one I really like Korean movies. I have about 20 minutes left on the movie. But it’s underwhelming 100% for me.
Yea I like Korean movies and have seen a good number...maybe that's why it's underwhelming. I wasn't surprised by the ending nor was I surprised by the twist(s) because it's pretty standard fare for a Korean movie.
