Morey->D'Antoni->Harden really help Westbrook be the best version of himself. He is the bizarre lovechild of Oscar Robertson and Vernon Maxwell. We have isolated his most valuable skills, and now he doesn't have to be the hero every single play like in OKC. He defers 100% to James Tiberius Harden. It is a beautiful combination to watch and we are so damn lucky to be Houston Rocket fans. Hopefully the salty crew will jump on-board and enjoy some of this season with the rest of us. (CP3 sucks... )
He's played great so far, and Im most impressed with his playmaking abilities his passes are super nice.
He’s been great on offense and at least energy on defense. I like him much more than Harden right now, that’s for sure.
Because you're a moron. Rockets need both players to compete for ring but Harden is the better player.
I’m pretty sure he has more total rebounds than Capela. Someone should start a Westbrook vs Capela rebounding thread to track it through the season. I think he might actually get more boards this year than our starting center. Hahaha. Capela is such a disappointment. He is no longer improving. Might even be regressing at this point.
Last 3 games: 27 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals. FG: 58% 3FG: 36% FT: 87% For 3 straight games, Westbrook has been MVP Westbrook. Here is to hoping that D'Antoni's system and Westbrook's knee are turning the corner.
I love it. He is building his game around attacking the basket, give him spacing and he is deadly like how offenses are built around Giannis who also isn't known for outside shooting. He also then gets in rhythm for free throws after easy baskets, as well as his knee finally starting to be 100%. Either he blows past his defender for a layup or dunk, gets a very close midrange with nice momentum going forward, or draws a double team to pass to an open shooter. This is his role in the offense and he's killing defenders by playing like this. It makes sense that spreading the floor for him with shooters makes him especially effective.
I hope it continues, but the last 3 teams were all pretty bad, we lost 2 of them, and the 15 games before that he was absolutely dreadful.
No matter what he does going forward, we clearly have established who will knock his game no matter the positives. Trenches are deep...
Maybe we should trade Russ for the always injured Kevin Love? That should improve our pace, lob game and switch defense amirite?
It's amazing how good he looks when he is just driving in and not taking so many damn mid range jumpers. If we can minimize his mid-range usage, holy ****, we may actually have a chance. It was beautiful watching him operate tonight when James was sucking hard.
Yeah still way too many mid-range shots. He's just burning money on those plays. It's frustrating to see him hit like 75% of his layups, yet continue to attempt (and brick) semi contested fancy two pointers from 15-20 feet away. He played well tonight, but overall wasn't as efficient as he should've been cause of mediocre shot selection.
