It was against the Mariners, so you have to take that into account. His fastball was a little all over the place, but his offspeed pitches looked great. Sometimes it can be as simple as changing the approach, more breaking balls and "straight" fastballs. I doubt we even had time to go over much with him, simply an effect of him and Maldonado being made aware of what pitches we wanted him to throw more.
As a Blue Jay's fan I'm very sad you guys took Sanchez from us for nothing. He's a legit 1 or 2 starter, he struggles with health a little bit which has kept him back, you guys made a fantastic trade.....enjoy,,,,
Did anybody else see Cole talking about people leaving the stadium in the 8th and 9th??? I guess people weren’t aware of the no-hitter. Shame!!!
There have been 14 combined no-hitters, only the Stros, O's and Angels have 2. My favorite is the first one: Babe Ruth (0 inn.) Ernie Shore (9 inn.) Boston Red Sox (AL) Saturday, June 23, 1917 (First game of doubleheader) Boston Red Sox 4, Washington Senators 0 Fenway Park (Boston) (First no-hitter to feature more than one pitcher. Ruth was ejected for arguing with and punching the ump after walking lead-off batter Ray Morgan. Shore was called in and Morgan was thrown out trying to steal second. Shore then retired the next 26 batters for the “imperfect game.”)
“And I really knew [that it was a no-hitter] in the 9th, when Gerrit Cole was yelling at the fans to sit down and watch the game.” -- Hinch.
Neither Tillman or Crane is willing to go over the luxury tax. Rockets have the 8th highest team payroll and the Astros have the 6th. Pretty similar.
