I ask this question because I really don't see a way of turning the Rockets into a contender over the next 3-4 yrs. Harden is currently in his prime and I don't see him wanting to waste his best years without a real shot at a title. The NBA has changed and star players force their way into situations they want to be in more and more often these days. I know Harden is loyal to Houston because we gave him his first real shot to be the man, but how long before the frustration of losing with no real path to improve causes James to want to leave? If Morey can't work some type of magic to significantly improve this team over the next year or so it wouldn't surprise me if Harden requested a trade.
Only one situation to force James out would be 15-16 season drama happening again, and Morey will do anything to aviod that. I hope James retires as a Rocket.
Lol wow I don't think this has ever been brought up but it makes sense. Gone are the days when legit superstars will stay put for a significant amount of time on a bad team with an uncertain future. There's no telling what will happen. There's so many variables.
At least a whole season and another idiotic summer. This is not a near-term concern. Morey has done more in less time, even when fans can't see how it's possible.
Once they fire him as Assistant General Manager. He got his super max deal, he is the franchise, they consult him on "everything" and (for better or for worse) he doesn't come across as a guy "I gotta go, I gotta go team up with these other stars." Like Russ in OKC and to a degree, Lillard in Portland, they're "loyal" & gonna ride it out. I could be wrong and losing could test that but don't see it now or next 2-3(?) years.
I think the best way to ensure he stays and we become a championship caliber team is getting Zion. Many don't realize what a rare physical specimen of size and athleticism and strength that he combines.
Houston fans have wanted him out since he arrived. Trade him! Kevin Love, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, send him to Boston for Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, (filler) & a package of picks!
plenty of people realize it. what people don't realize is rockets have no shot at getting him with this roster
Shiiiit, mostly all of the non basketball watchers in Houston want him out after game 7 last year because they think he can do it all by himself when in reality those same people only watch the Rockets in the playoffs and didn't watch one regular season game. ****ing bozos.
