Don’t see them double making what’s been already covered in a show. Clone Wars and Rebels are adult cartoons. Resistance is more of a kids cartoon. Looking forward to final season of Clone Wars.
I finally got around to watching this, and it was decent but flawed. The biggest takeaway for me is why should I feel compelled to watch a Han Solo origin story? It's why I didn't see it in the theater, and unfortunately the movie never answered that question. It was enjoyable but rather meaningless. And I think it felt pointless because of Solo himself. I felt the writers and Emmerich approached the character knowing the iconic hero he would become, rather than the person he is at that time. In fact the best moment for me for the character, came in the first shot we see him, trying to boost the speeder. There was a desperate vulnerability there that connected me to him more than any other point in the movie. Wish the rest of the film could have shown the same subtlety. There were moments too familiar with other films, like the snarky droid. But at the same time, when given a chance to spread its wings, there were some memorable moments, like the train heist, the opening speeder chase, the Marauder's theme (with the children's choir) and of course Lando. In fact the movie may have been better if it was Lando instead; Donald Glover was amazing. In the end, it was a fun action-adventure in the Star Wars universe, and one i don't mind revisiting on cable if it's on tv. But it's nothing more. Definitely among the weaker films.
This movie's a bit of a conundrum for me. Since it's on Netflix and I like most of the supporting cast I somewhat want to watch it. However, every Star Wars movie (with possibly the exception of Episode V) I've immediately regretted spending the time on.
