As much as we hate him as a perosn, we have to put D. Howard in there for basketball reasons. He has had more of an impact on Rockets teams than Capella to this point.
I'll take a stab at a 12 man roster using highest single season PER with a VORP of at least 1: Yao (26.5) - Capela (24.5) - Dwight (21.3) - Hakeem (20.7) T.Jones (19.1) - Scola (18.4) - Thomas (16.4) Tmac (23.2) - Parsons (15.9) - Artest (15.6) Harden (29.8) - Kmart (21.4) - Mobley (17.7) CP3 (24.4) - Francis (20.6) - Lowry (18.8) - Dragic (18.0) notable cuts: beverley, ariza, battier, hayes. I'd love to have them instead of traitors like dwight, parsons, mac, and dragic, but i have to give credit where its due.
But why that arbitrary year? Team of Millenium means nothing. Why leave out Rockets Greats from every era? Just so you can add Pat Bev or Cat Mobley??? Popular Rockets but should never be on least of BEST anything. And any Rockets best team that doesn't have Dream is a sham.
Someone else said this, but it really is crazy how weak we have been at Power Forward forever. I don’t know if we could say our top players can destroy other teams’ simply because we have such a hole there. Don’t get me wrong, always loved Scola and Chuck Hayes would be tremendous if surrounded by all offensive powerhouses at the other positions, but no one near all star level. Although in today’s NBA you could easily play Battier or Artest at PF but let’s play this game by the rules and only use them in the position that they played for us. In that case I take Game 7 vs Clippers Josh Smith over Erbody!
Perhaps, but Team of the Millenium means jack shyte to me. Need to do something in Rockets red first before they can earn a spot on a best ever team. The Team of the Millenium is likely next seasons team, if they can get past GSW. Until then, only Harden has earned consideration with his MVP, individual accomplishments, post season production and All Star selections. Cat, Scola, KMart, TJones, Bev, Juwan Howard ... Von Wafer???? LOL Good role players, some are even beloved but none have any business on a "best" ever team, no matter the era.
Looks like there is an interesting side discussion here, Gordon v Cat. Cat's 1st-step/speed, stamina and defense vs Gordon's superior shooting range, quick release.
What is your problem my dude? I'm being serious. Who gives a fook if Team of the Millennium means anything to you. The OP sure doesn't. People do things like team of the decade all the time. Stop making such a fuss and being all cantankerous. Off seasons are long, fans need some barbershop talk. Yao/Dwight Melo/DMo Tmac/Battier Harden/Dragic CP3/Francis Turned it into a Melo and DMo thread.
Landry is super underrated was one of my favorite players. I will never forget his defense in the 2008 Jazz series...
Didn’t Charles Barkley play in the earliest stages of the 2000’s? If so CP3, Harden, T Mac, Barkley & Yao
Let's all keep bumping this thread in honor of @D-rock CP3 / Francis / Lowry Harden / Gordon / Martin / Mobley TMac / Battier Scola / Tucker / CARMELOOOOO ANTHONYYYYY Yao / Capela / Howard Here's my 15 man roster. Sorry but our power forwards have SUUUCKED for 20 years.
As far as impact towards winning campaigns go since 2000 I'll play w this starting line: CP3 Harden Tmac Artest Yao
All Time Rocket team PG-Mark Jackson/Brent Price/ David Wesley SG-Recasner/Derick Anderson/ Michael Dickerson SF-Glen Rice/Jim Jackson/Erik piakowski PF-Antoin Carr/Othella Harrington/Weatherspoon C-Charles Jones/Zan Tabak/Kelvin Cato
Francis was selfish? That's a new one. Dude wouldn't shoot for the first 3 quarters, desperately trying to get his crappy teammates involved. I remember hoping and praying that he would be WAY MORE selfish. Steve was a lot of things, selfish was not one of them. Dude left it on the floor for his teammates, and no one he ever played with had trouble getting off.
