End of an Era. It was obviously coming, and needed to happen. Still kind of sad....but eh, I'm more excited about next season than I have been in a long time. Going to miss that junkyard dog, he was my favorite Texan for a long time....
Didn't' end well, almost never does in the NFL, but thanks for the years of service. Cushing gave the Texans a national presence and was a very good player and great leader for many years. Drafting more players like Cushing who give you the performance and the longevity is how you win championships. He're hoping we continue to draft players like Cushing.
btw... i'm seeing a lot of hate in this thread for one of the most successful draft picks in franchise history while at the same time i see b****ing and moaning about how our drafts history sucks. what the hell, you miserable facks?!?
Overall not a big fan of Brian Cushing. The guy missed 40 games in 9 years and after his first few years really wasn't that good a football player.
I think that can be said about a lot of sports, with the aging / injury prone players.... Look @ how it ended with Olajuwon.
I don't think he can give it up, yet. Hopefully whoever signs him mics him and other teammates up for his first few practices. Will be hilarious.
Oh he'll be picked up pretty quickly by someone, likely on a short term deal without too much guaranteed money.
He was elite in his younger days. There's no doubt about that. PED's or not. A warrior on the field and as a fan that's what I love seeing the most. But on the field it hasn't been there in some time. He'll get another shot. Pats or Titans most likely. Will it end as badly as other Texan greats Dre & Arian?
Well said! I wish him the best. He reminded me a little of Gregg Bingham, Oilers MLB for the youngins. These guys gave us everything they had on the field and for those moments in our lives, "we were entertained!"
Perhaps because he stupidly used banned substances letting down his teammates on 2 occasions? Perhaps in a year when his team needed him most due to defensive injuries, he was suspended for 10 games due to his own selfishness?
Sure, but he never got popped for banned substances twice and then chose to abandon his team in a year when they needed him most and while the memory of that turd is fresh in everyone's mind, it's hard to be mad at Cushing who was a model teammate by comparison.
So two mistakes makes nine years and everything a person does for the community irrelevant. Glad I'm not your friend in real life, you're to harsh imo.
Never said he wasn’t a good citizen. But, I also wouldn’t point to him as an example for young football players to emulate. I would point to him as someone to emulate in working with a community. He was just a selfish teammate who stupidly used banned substances and cost himself and his teammates.
