Yup, it's a pretty awful time politically, you have socialism and authoritarianism gaining popularity every day.

 

Why not the socialism as practiced in northern Europe?

 

Another huge downside of electing a piece of trash for president is there will be a leftist boomerang in coming years.

 

I want sensible practical moderates, Republicans and Democrats. The reason why Sanders have so many supporters is because of people like Trump and Cruz on the right.

His tax plan to cover this raises most of your taxes around 10K- 25K a year and would run a 18 trillion dollar deficit over the next decade.

This doesn't even begin to address the lack of freedom you would have under such a system or the reduction in the quality of healthcare that would probably ensue.

Socialism is badass.

 

Basically the end of the Bush years led to the 8 years of Obama which greatly divided the country because divisiveness was pretty much what he was best at. When people are divided like that and the atmosphere becomes toxic you get a lot of angry people on both sides. When you get a lot of angry people you have people being attracted to populist nonsense. Populist movements on both sides can lead to socialism or authoritarianism and right now that's the directions things are heading, both of which pretty terrible for different reasons.

Hopefully we manage to turn things around before too much long lasting harm is done.

 

How was Obama divisive?

 

How was he not? His whole shtick was demonizing everyone who didn't agree with him on any given issue. It was always "good people agree with me and only evil racist people disagree"

8 years of that BS pushed the sides apart and in the direction of empowering the state to punish those who disagree with them be it via socialism or authoritarianism. It's pretty much the direction that short sighted and angry people always push things.

 

I'm looking for specific examples. Show me a speech, video/situation where he actually demonized those against him.

Sandwiched between 8 years of "you're either with us or you're with the enemy" Link and Trump's tweets, I actually thought Barack might've been too much to the politician that worked to get consensus. Until into his second term where he was fed up and just started executive ordering everything.

 

Ah yes, the freedom of being too poor for healthcare and dying untreated.
The whole world is laughing at these idiotic healthcare arguments made in the USA and it just shows how little many people care about others that can't afford everything.

It's not just who knows, it will gain momentum. Current economic and political system is in the ditch and new / old / reinvented ideas to meet current and future needs will gain popularity - and for good reasons.

If the a true evolution is on the horizon with technology where billions will be displaced of works, you got to have an evolved political and social economic system in parallel.

 

Trump tax plan will add $5.5 Trillion to the debt. The rich benefits and the rest suffer. But no, trickle down it will and everyone benefits. Really? We still foolish enough to buy that? So top of top get better, everyone else get less services. Humm.... if this sell for 20 years and still does today...

Bernie's healthcare cost $3 trillion and everyone benefit. More over, the return on that is $5 trillion of economic benefits. Why not? everyone can now not worry about health and focus on producing and consuming. Boom time. Yes, its bs # i'm pulling out of the air - but it is likely less bs than the trickle down BS republican has played for the last 20 years.
