Houston area...day spas? Massage therapists? Not talking about the happy ending kind, so we'll just preempt that, although I get the feeling it might devolve into that kind of thread... I wrenched my shoulder playing ball a few days back and I was just wondering if the power of CF knew of any sports massage parlors or deep tissue massage places in town? Also if there's a general price range I should expect, that'd be great too. Kind of don't want to go to a spa massage place, but if that's all that's available, beggars can't be choosers.
I ddint bther to reead nything you wrote but leme tell you something man, asian msg parlords are dens of aids and cokefeineds,,,,, its poeples like you who expoitt the systemm and get goosd men like me in toruble.
isnt aids a virus? so a den of virus. thats like saying lets go watch a movie at my house and you get there and your den is full of virus watching tv and your screwed because you cant watch your movie. or am i confused by your statement. i regress.
What do you mean by "wrenched" your shoulder? You'll probably need to look for a sports massage therapist. My guess is their rates are much like personal trainers' rates. Some may be 40 an hour or as high as 70 an hour, but for a shoulder you may just need half an hour.
I am really really sorry for this. I dont remember it, remind me to turn off my computer before I go out.
Definitely need to redo the thread title...massage parlors? LOL. I don't know how someone can recommend a place and say its the best. Find a massage therapist you really like and stick with her/him. Recently I was driving through Bellaire and saw an add for foot reflexology $20 and hour. Best $20 I have ever spent in my life.
Sigh, I tried to change the title, but I guess it's too late. Oh well, I didn't know what to call them (at least now I know). I'm not really sure what happened, but I think it was where I was going for a 50/50 ball on a steal and we just kind of banged arms and he pushed my arm backwards in an awkward motion. Didn't feel terrible at the time, but ever since it's just been really sore with limited movement. Can't really describe it better than that, but I can't raise my arm up to shoulder level, and I can't rotate it around all the way comfortably. I guess I was looking for both a place and really what kind of massage to look for in a situation like this. Just wanted to avoid going to the doctor if I could.
If you have decent insurance go to its web site and check. They won't list any hanky-panky places if they are paying some or all the cost. What side of Houston do you live in, it will help CF members find you a legit place.
Live in Sugar Land but spend a lot of time near the Med Center and UH area so I guess anywhere in that zone would be good. Hadn't thought about insurance, but that's a good idea, thanks No Chance.
Here is a serious answer. Call the One 2 One training center on Richmond. It's a gym, but there is a sports massage therapist named William that works out of the gym. Ask for his phone number. I can also PM his number. He helped me recover from a shoulder injury. He also works with professional bodybuilders and athletes, so he is very familiar with soft tissue injuries. I have seen him work on a Houston Texans player. http://www.one2onetrainingcenter.com/
