Well, that could actually be one of the reasons for the firing. Maybe the Knicks front-office sees that their team is capable of more (like staying competitive with teams like Dallas or even beating them) than what they've been showing lately.
I thought Fitzdale was doing a great job developing RJ Barett. Dude looked awful in SL and preseason but slowly became a ROY contender. Dolan isn't technically the problem IMO, its the people he keeps puts in charge that are the problem. Guys like Scott Layden, Isiah Thomas and Steve Mills I dunno where Dolan keeps getting these guys. Dolan is like the well meaning but gullible owner always getting taken advantage of by shady people.
Oh please god. No. Please let her first head coaching job be on at least a semi-competent roster. They'll blame her failure with the Knicks on being a woman. And failing with the Knicks is literally the only option for ANYONE. Greg Popovich. Red Auerbach. Pat Riley. Phil Jackson (literally). Nobody can turn that franchise around so long as James Dolan owns it.
I could see the Lakers but why the Clippers? They have George and Kawhi. He'd get far less minutes there than he would damn near anywhere else.
What about guys like Phil Jackson? Dolan is the problem. It's a top down issue. He's at the top. I've (very briefly) met James Dolan. I've never met anyone like him. When he enters the room you feel his ego. I don't know how else to explain it. The whole room becomes heavy. It's intense.
How does Steve Mills stay employed???? 12 coaches in 20 years, multiples GMs, and you know the only person that has never been fired? STEVE MILLS. How does this team stay in charge and not get fired? Is he a boss man and repeat what Dolan tells him to say? "RUN IT BACK!" like the Rockets dude who always stay employed?
Mills President and Executive GM since 2013, : 2014–15 Eastern 15th Atlantic 5th 17 65 .207 32 — — Derek Fisher [127] 2015–16 Eastern 13th Atlantic 3rd 32 50 .390 24 — — Derek Fisher Kurt Rambis [128] 2016–17 Eastern 12th Atlantic 3rd 31 51 .378 22 — — Jeff Hornacek [129] 2017–18 Eastern 11th Atlantic 4th 29 53 .354 30 — — Jeff Hornacek [130] 2018–19 Eastern 15th Atlantic 5th 17 65 .207 - Take dat for DATA~! HOW DOES HE STAY EMPLOYED!!! I mean, dude dumped Hardaway and Courtney Lee salary to Dallas and he used all the Free cap space to replace Hardway and Lee with Gibson, Ellington, Bobby brown portis that dude from Piston/Laker who might never play again, and other scrubs.
