In my opinion, the Texans researched and interviewed the running backs during the combine and said no thanks. There is a small pool of draftable running backs this year which means they will be over drafted. All RBs after Love and Price have major holes and concerns.
I would be VERY happy about this draft. It probably won't happen exactly like this but it would be awesome to get at least two of these guys.
If Mauigoa, Lomu, Freeling, Ilheanachor and Miller are off the board then I would trade back. And I would make sure Thieneman and Woods were off the board too. Fano and Proctor are guards to me and I wouldn't use a day 1 pick on either when there are plenty of starting guards to choose from in Day 2 of the draft.
48 prospects and not a single WR on the list. Come on Nick. You gonna have to interview some Wide receivers to throw the other teams off
SEC pedigree with ability to play LT or RT. Hes not a starter but could be a valuable swing tackler backing both sides. Pretty mobile for a big dude too
I believe that Kadyn Proctor is a going to be a very good OL, I'm just not sure if it will be at T or G. If we don't take a tackle at 28 we're probably not getting one.
I hope we draft OL prospects that are mean/nasty in the trenches, have a proven track record (at least 2 years starting), have size and athleticism, and have good technical blocking skills. I'm less interested in potential, I think that has caused us to reach for lineman that haven't lived up to their billing. The one guy that I'd take a chance on that fits this is Max Iheanachor. Guys I like besides him are... - Chase Bisontis: The Aggie OL stigma made me pause, but after Combine and more I've looked into him he's got a lot of what I'd like to bring to our IOL. I'd be ok taking him at #28 or #38, not sure he lasts much passed those picks. - Emmanuel Pregnon: Has everything I'm looking for, plus some length. Couldn't find his DOB, but looks to be 24 yo already. That's not necessarily bad for us, plus he's played in 3 different programs so he's had experience moving and learning new offenses. Could be LG plug-in. - Blake Miller: Ironman with 54 career starts, great size and athleticism. Needs some work on technique and hand usage, but could likely take RT duties on early. - Gennings Dunker: He's a throwback kind of guy that our OL has needed forever. While he probably moves inside, he's got 3-years of starting experience at RT, so he can kick out if we needed him to. - Keylan Rutledge: Has the nasty attitude, size, length, and surprising athleticism for either G spot. I'd be interested if we could develop him as an OC as well. My wish list is 2 of those 6 guys in rounds 1-2. There's guys being talked about in the 1st that I'm not that high on like Freeling, Proctor and Lomu. However, if one is at #28 and our OL Coach likes them then so be it.
At least they are bringing in the right prospects. Gives me a measure of comfort. Lots of o-line, DT, safety and TE.
