I saw this posted over on the APBRMetrics board. It's a cool way to visualize when we sub in bench players for the starters, and compare that to opponents and the league average.

Probably can't draw too much from it after a few games.

Pretty interesting stuff, although like you said, not much to conclude at this point. Thanks for posting this.

I take it this is an average of how many starters are in at any given minute of the game?

Interesting... so the league average two starters on the court the whole game.

In our first half analysis we have only one starter on the court for part of the second quarter, but in the second half we never have less than two.

At least so far. This will be interesting as the season progresses to see how we measure up to teams such as the Lakers and Boston. Looking at that now, the Lakers only spend about 3 minutes in the first half and 5 minutes in the second half without at least two starters on the court. Boston uses the bench more and has 7 minutes in the first half with less than two starters and 5 in the second.

The Rockets have less than two starters on the court for 6 minutes in the first and none in the second.

This will likely change quite a bit when we get Shane back.

It's interesting to see how all the best teams vary considerably from the league average, while mediocre ones tend to stick to it. Just another indicator of the importance of depth.
