The lakers are currently 24-11 and just a 1/2 game out of first place in the division and 1/2 out of first place overall in the western conference. They are playing probably the best basketball of all of them.

Phil Jackson has been knocked for not being able to develop a young group of players into championship caliber team and always coaching superstars. If they get to the NBA finals this year and win it would this then seal Phil Jackson's career as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, coach of all time?

I would say so. That was always on my knock on him before that he had only coached amazing teams and that was the reason for his success. But now... if he led the Lakers to the championship, he would be the best coach in my book.

If Andrew Bynum continues to develope, they will win it next year. Provided they can get past the Rockets of course! :D Then I'd have to "YES" to that. I can't believe I just said that!!

It would change my opinion in the sense I thought he lost contact with their players last season. I concluded his best years were behind him. There was too much calling out of too many players publicly and it looked like PJ had turned into Mr. Crankypants. If they win 50+ games and make the Finals with this roster, PJ would deserve a huge amount of credit and any remaining naysayers against his greatness would look like idiots.

Same here. I dislike Phil Jackson with a passion. But if he can do that, I'll have to give him the credit.

BTW, I've always thought Bynum has great potential. A lot of people laughed at the Lakers' insistence in keeping him. I thought they were smart.

It would change my opinion on Bryant. It would do nothing for my opinion of Jackson.

Yes it would indeed do that! So far Phil Jackson has only managed teams who were laiden with talent and handed to him on a plate. The 2007 LA team would be coached by him & a great performance if it wins the Championship. :p
