I have been saying the same thing, they are in a dying industry. The only chance they have is to attack the package industry and compete with Fed Ex and UPS. Email is much simpler and it is free. DaDakota
funny stuff Head. I just found out about that increase yesterday when I opened up the mail and had my some letters returned to me. friggin sobs.
T-minus 10 minutes until giddyup posts that there's a bill in Congress that proposes charging people for sending e-mails.
Why complain about postage prices if you don't use them? The post office, if I remember correctly, is one of the few if only federal agency that is self sufficient.
Good natured ribbing, buddy. You've just been on a roll lately with chain e-mails. Guess you haven't got that one yet.
Aren't they struggling pretty bad, this is the reason for the rate increases? I recall that they were thinking of getting rid of Saturday deliveries. Also I know that their number of letters has decreased, but I thought they were getting a nice increase from internet purchases like Ebay that ship USPS Priority.
I work for a direct mail/fulfillment company here in Austin where all we do is addressing, labeling, folding, inserting, etc. for various companies who send out bulk mail. Coupled with the economy slumping hard for this industry, and the fact that the postal rates went up is a losing proposition for us. The postage rates went up for not only First Class, but for bulk rates as well. That's where we are really starting to feel the pinch. We are unusually SLOW this month, and my boss is really starting to freak out. I hope I still have a job next month.... that would be 2 really big blows for me
