Why our shooters don't fluorish in the inside-out offense?

    Cat is doing the same as he did last year with more open look.

    Pike is not doing anything under this offense.

    The only outside shooter that is doing something is Padgett, and yet he rarely plays.

    Only Yao's offense looks better within the system (to a certain degree, Mo). SF3's offensive has regressed to the point that he is not willing to take open jumpers.

    I just don't understand how we can get better under this system with the same type of players.

    what are you talking about?

    Mobley and JJ have both set CAREER records for three-pointers made this season, with 6 games left.

    mobley has 158 and JJ has 146.

    JJ needs 4 more threes to become part of the first tandem in Rockets history to shoot 150 three-pointers each...

    some posters on this site drive me crazy, get your facts straight!

    rockets are shooting .362 behind the arch this season (5th best in the League).

    the better percentage is predicated on the inside game drawing defenders and creating open outside looks.

    when we didnt focus on the inside game (last year) our percentage was .346(16th best)

    Ray missed a charge chunk of the games in the early season. He was taking more 3s each game and making them at the same rate as JJ, who was able to take numerous wide open treys when the defense was busy doubling on Yao.

    Ray was the focus of the opposing D and Ray did not have the luxury of playing with a dominant low post player.

    how are Cat and JJ "not flourishing" by setting career marks in three-pointers made?

    yeah... but overall our FG% isn't great, and it kinda boggles me, because we have people that can hit the mid ranger too... like MoT. Why aren't we better at shooting?

    The ball hardly ever goes in and out again and has only gone back in again to Yao Ming three times all season. The inside outside is hardly existing, at least the way that I understand it should be played.

    If you are a severe Rockets fan you should stop being so sentimental about Steve and Cat. They just dont fit.

    I thik the thread starter's point was that, despite the more open looks, Cuttino, J.J., and Francis haven't become better jumpshooters - they've just taken more three point shots, save for Francis.

    I see the point but don't agree with it. It's a norm for percentage to go down with more shots taken. Not the case with Cat and JJ.

    We are an inside-out team. We need CONSISTENCY from the outside in order for our inside game to be more effective. And the other way around too.

    I find it hilarious that you're saying the contrary with nothing to back it up. In fact, let's take it one step further. Cuttino Mobley has a career 37% average, and Ray Allen a % average from beyond the arc, and Ray Allen 40.1%. Is the 3.1% that much better? Mobley has not been on an inside out offense his whole career either, of course, I think that you'll never see it for what it is, but in this case numbers don't lie. Will you say, "yeah but Ray Allen makes more difficult 3s", if that's what you're thinking, please say how. As far as JJ, he shoots a whopping 4% better than him from 3. Your perception seems skewed because he shoots more of them.

    Rocket River, I find it funny that you fail to realize that Ray Allen is doing all his damage with ZERO post presence on that team. He is doing it ALL on his own, whereas JJ and Mobley get wide open shots because of Yao. Why do you think BOTH of them are on pace to have CAREER years in 3pt shooting? Because of Yao. Now, take a natural TOP NOTCH shooter and give him even MORE room because of Yao? LOOK OUT!

    I am not saying Mobley and JJ are bad. I love them, especially JJ. I just want Francis out and Allen in. Bring Mobley off the bench.

    The real difference in Allen is his CONSISTANCY from game to game. You KNOW you are going to get close to 20pts every night. Can we say the same for Francis?
