Why not? If your precious #4 team OU can't make it as a #2 seed, I'm betting they wouldn't be able to make it as a #1 seed.
Cincinatti won their tournament. OU won their tournament. Maryland lost to NC State. One of those teams clearly isn't deserving, IMO. UCONN gets a 2 seed? Weren't they ranked 24th this week? So Conference tournaments apparently count, as long as it's the Big East. Anyone else think Bonnie Bernstein is hot?
Well, then the way you're bashing, you should be asking why they even have regular seasons. I think the committee's smart enough to realize that they played more games than the last 3. Maryland won one of the toughest conferences for the entire season, OU did not.
I don't think they came up with the tournaments to figure out the number one seeds, which is what you seem to be arguing. I could be wrong. So your question is flawed.
Why does there have to be a point? It's fun for fans and players, and it sometimes can help teams in a bigger conference sneak in like Iowa did last year and almost this year. And while it can allow teams to improve their chances or seeding, it's not the sole reason.
I do in a weird and crude way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally, I was surprised by Cincy getting a #1 seed over OU, but since they are both in the same region, it's not that bad. However, Maryland is a different case. Granted, they won their regular season conference championship, but Freak has got a point. Why even play the ACC Conference Tournament if one of the teams to get a #1 seed doesn't even make it to the final?? I think it shows how much the ACC is thought of compared to other conferences.
I agree, OU or Cinci isn't deserving. I dont know enough about the 2 of them to compare them. Maryland does deserve a 1 seed sure they lost to a good NC State team who is going to the tournament. I dont here you crying about Duke getting a 1 seed even though they lost to FSU and UVA both teams who are not in the NCAA tournament
No Joke JR. State had to shoot 60% just to pull out a 4 point victory over UM. Maryland is a top 4 team. Baxter, Wilcox, Dixon and Blake, very tough team! The tournament will prove who deserved rankings, and who didn't. Just don't find yourself griping about your team going out in the first round after you cried over them not being in the polls.
