Why aren't we handing over the evidence?

Can someone explain to me why we aren't handing over the evidence proving that OBL was involved in the attacks? Government says that they have "overwhelming evidence", "evidence pointing to OBL" and yada yada yada. Afghanistan is requesting that we hand the evidence over, and they may hand him over. Why aren't we? Is it because we don't have enough evidence, or what? I don't understand. Someone fill me in.

i heard on one show something about in order to hand over the evidence we'd have to inform them of intelligence info etc that we aren't ready to inform them about..i think that was speculation though .. i'm guessing maybe we have people that have penetrated the differnt groups or something that in order to show our proof we'd have to give those people up and ruin their cover or whatever.. i really dont know exactly but i think it has to do with giving up inteligence info.. i'm probably wrong and may have misunderstood the person but that is what i thought they meant..

Do you honestly believe that the Taliban would hand over bin Laden? This man has admitted to at least two terrorists attacks against U.S. embassies and they aren't handing him over.

Besides, they already talked to several Afghani officials several times in the past and showed them proof of Bin Laden's involvement with the african embassy bombings, and they still gave a firm 'no' to extraditing him. It would appear to US officials that any demands by the Afghanistan govt. for evidence is just lip service.
I still hope they'll go ahead and show what information they have without revealing sensitive intelligence material, just so we can say we did it.

We're willing to make the case to Pakistan.

I think it's a matter of security. We tell them, and even if most of them mean well, some of our intelligence techniques will leak to terrorists. They'll also know if any agents are compromised.

If it were a normal country, all we would probably have to do is show up in court to extradict him. We would not have to make our entire case.

Regardless, it is just obfuscation. They are just gaming us. Think about it, EVERYONE KNOWS what bin laden is up to...his meaning in life.
