wood.... I mean a groundhog in their den?

I did. He must have come in the sliding door I left open so that my lab mix "Rocket" could go out to pee in the morning.

Took me two hours to get someone out there to remove the critter. then 20 minutes for paperwork.

If you have pets, make sure their rabies shots are up to date. They are going to test the animal and if it tests positive for rabies, they may quarantine my animals (3 cats and 1 dog) for up to six months if their shots aren't up to date.

We think they are up to date. Even so if the animal tests positive, they may "want" us to get them booster shots for rabies.

What a way to wake up.... "Giddyup, get up there's a creature in the house!"

"Big deal," I mutter. We've had lots of chipmunks and baby squirrels and birds and stuff but nothing that ever out-sized our Havaheart trap until now.

I've never even seen a groundhog before.

My dog would have killed the critter for me. I would have had to clean up the blood is all. Still, that's better than the possibility of someone taking my dogs away to quarantine. I don't play that.

The front page of my local paper (I live in Arkansas  ) has a story about a group of neighbors who had their gardens raided by a groundhog. They look a lot like muskrats or nutria to me. And regarding the post directly above mine, that's exactly what they did with them. LOL! :D
