Was wondering if any has a favorite place to pick fresh strawberries, peaches, blackberries etc..

I've seen a couple of places out in Waller County near Hempstead.

Don't have a favorite, but I don't know if there are any within the city itself.

Waller County, Montgomery County....you have to drive about an hour outside of town to find orchards where you can pick your own fruit.

I've driven all over Texas. Never seen a "free" orchard.

Knowing this State, along with trespassing laws, I'd buy them at stands, when you see them...

They aren't free. You pay a fee, like five or ten bucks, and then get to go pickin'.

There is a killer stand on State Hwy 6 just north of 290, on the way to Aggieland, before you get to Navasota. They make their own preserves too.

I was just looking into this for some friends so this is a copy of what I wrote them. I've visited Moorhead blueberry farm and really liked it but it was rather hot and sunny so be prepared. I've also enjoyed Matt Family Orchard, it is not that far and the family is rather friendly.

It is currently strawberry season! The season will continue through May. My strawberries are just beginning to set and I’ll be happy if I get a couple before critters or toddlers find them. But King’s Orchard looks like they usually have much better luck and they are open every day except Monday. It looks like they are near Magnolia so plan on a long drive.

For those who like to plan far in advance:

After Strawberries comes blackberry season. That’s the beginning of May through the end of July – available at kings Orchard and Matt Family Orchard

Blueberries are mid June to the end of July. – Kings Orchard $3.25/pound or Moorhead Blueberry Farm in Conroe $1.50/pound

Jujubes and Asian Pears are available in July and August at Matt Family Orchard.

Figs – Late July through the end of September – Kings Orchard

Persimmons are in season September through November at Matt Family Orchard.
