With a win tomorrow against Portland, the Rockets will move to 14 games over .500.

When was the last time the Rockets were 14 games over .500 in a season?

At the most, the Rockets were last 14 or more games over .500 on the last day of the 1996-97 season, when the Rockets were 57-25.

The Rockets did go 31-19 in 1998-99, so there is a slight chance they were 14 games over .500 in that year. I did a quick Google search for Schedule Results for that year, but came up empty.

Anyway, this could be the first time in almost 8 years that the Rockets move 14 games over .500.

You answered your question well. Wonder why there is even a thread.

In 1998-99, all teams play only 50 games because of the lockout, do you remember that?

    :) Yep.

Does anyone know how to find Schedule/Results for the '98-'99 season to see if the Rockets ever got 14 games over .500?

    Nevermind.

Turns out that since the end of the 1996-97 season, the Rockets have been 13 games over .500 four times before now, 3 in '99, once last year.

All 4 previous times they lost the next game. Weird.

You just mentioned they went 31-19. If my math is correct, that is all 50 games, and only 12 games over .500

I remember during that season, The Rox started out 22-9 before slumping and losing to the Lakers in the 1st round.

I guess I should have just waited for the ESPN recap of the game:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=250316010

"The Rockets are 14 games over .500 for the first time since the 1996-97 season. "
