I managed to gash my knee yesterday resulting in 8 stitches. Ugh. Catch is...I'll be in California in 10 days when the stitches are due to come out. I'd prefer to have this done at a walk in clinic, or nurse station but I can't figure out what it'll cost. It's likely under my travel insurance deductible (at least I hope so) so it's out of my pocket. I hate that :(.

Anyone know what these places cost for something like this? Or where to go?

Bonus points if you know of a place near San Luis Obispo or Pismo Beach California.

More of a question for the locals where you're at.

It's kind of like asking 'How much is it to eat at a restaurant'.

hmm, CVS Pharmacies have some minute clinics. From what I know, I think it's about 75$ for a walk-in appointment with insurance?

    Don't know about location though

Take them out yourself. It isn't hard. You should be able to look at your knee. Just invest a couple of bucks in some medical-type scissors, a pair of tweezers, and some rubbing alcohol to sterilize the area.

I did google.com. Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to bookmark that site. It left me more confused then ever.

I was hoping some of our learned clutchfans might be a little more helpful. (and...fwiw...i learned Walmart has med clinics??? Who knew? -- but none where I need it).

Have a little sympathy for a guy who's just learned he may be sitting on the shore for the first few days of his surfing safari......

Really could care less that you got a boo boo... besides on the shore you'll have a better chance of finding a woman who does. So yeah I feel even less sorry for you.

Xero: I suspect it does vary. Just wasn't sure if it would be several hundered, or a fair bit less.

SuperBee: thanks man -- guess I'll call the CVS's etc. Are these kind of places the best bets for quickie med care? I'm not really sure where I should be looking. I'd hate to pay the emergency hospital rate only to find out later there was a drive-thru window at Walmart that did the same thing. I'm not used to US med care.

Otto: I probably would go that route if I was younger. Or at least consider it. But I'm guessing the wife will worry too much. It actually sounds more interesting to do it yourself...
