I was curious as to what the people on the bbs have been purchasing, and for those that don't buy music, what you have d-loaded recently? I've been seeing sufjan stevens come on feel the illinoise! on a lot of peoples top cds of 2005 lists, does anyone have it? What exactly does he sound like? For me, the last cd I purchased was, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah
I dig all kinds of music, but I cannot stand that sufjan stevens crap. Makes me wanna gleek in my dogs eyes. Horrible! Downloading some A Perfect Circle live concert footage right now. Anything with MJK is golden.

not sure how to describe Sufjan Stevens and his Illinoise cd, but i certainly do love it and it certainly makes me very happy, it is sort like grandiose folk music meets an orchestra and joins to together to produce a musical about Illinoise, i love the sound and can't get enough of Sufjan and his zany but very full and lush music....
Latest CDs I have bought: The Futureheads - The Futureheads You Could Have It So Much Better - Franz Ferdinand Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah The Bravery - The Bravery Strange & Beautiful - Aqualung Rainbow Rising - Rainbow Holy Diver - Dio Sad Wings of Destiny - Judas Priest Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath Deep Purple - Deep Purple Who Do We Think We Are - Deep Purple Purpendicular - Deep Purple Coming Soon: Trace - Son Volt March 16-20, 1992 - Uncle Tupelo Long Live Rock & Roll - Rainbow Surfing With the Alien - Joe Satriani Aerial - Kate Bush Extraordinary Machine - Fiona Apple Straight Between the Eyes - Rainbow I keep telling myself that I am going to stop buying CDs someday but then I hear something like the 2nd Rainbow album (Rainbow Rising) and it makes me want to get everything from that band.
Listening to it right now. Very polished group of tracks. The production values are through the roof with Roy Thomas Baker at the controls. Really takes you back to the arena rock heroes of the 70's and 80's like Queen, Boston, ELO, and even Journey! The track "English Country Garden" is worthy enough to be on any mid 70's Queen album. Most bands' sophomore efforts suck, but I think this one's actually better than their first.
The Redwalls - De Nova As a geezer it's is pretty exciting to me to hear a young 20 something band evoke the sounds of the early Beatles. Stones and Bowie in a totally original way. I don't think they are coming at it as a cover band, I just think they are making their music and with their 4 pieces and their voices and it's me that conjurs up the flashback. They may sound like Oasis to younger listeners, I don't know. I seemed to have blown right past Oasis because they were so hyped as the new Beatles and seemed as manufactured as The Archies. These guys sound authentic to me and the only way they would have heard the Beatles is if their grandparents played em. Oh and if you sample through the Amazon tracks the first cut is atypical with the horn section. I don't know why they would have put that song first, it's totally our character.
animal collective. really different, but very good listening. and you guys should check out wolfparade.
I've heard of that band, but havent seen any of their stuff at Best Buy, did you purchase it online? Allmusic doesnt have anything on them either, but I know they're supposed to sound like Sigur Ros and Godspeed.
So I went out and got some music, based on some of what you guys were suggesting. I picked up: Animal Collective-"Feels" The Futureheads-Self-Titled Sufjan Stevens-"Come on feel the Illinoise" I'm sorta taking a chance on Sujan, and Animal Collective, but I figure if I can dig the Mars Volta, I can dig anyone. The Futureheads I have heard before and like, so I was going to get it at some point.
