What a bunch of friggin' morons!!!!! Burns is urging like-minded haters to put their money where their mouths are. "I beg you, Weezer," he said. "Take our money and disappear." Can I please take your money and disappear? I could use $10 million.
This makes no sense to me. Nobody is forcing you to listen to them. I'll go Carmelo on this and offer up $20 to whoever slaps the hell out of this Burns guy.
The sense of fan ownership is an annoying issue. Diehards feel they're some sort of board of directors. Just because you're a fan of a song or album, doesn't mean the band is going to keep popping out the same stuff you liked - real artists aren't interested in being formulaic. Reminds me of all the LOST fans that got pissed off because the show didn't go the direction they were hoping it would.
Really? Maybe if the Lost fans created a website to raise money to entice producers to cancel the show it would be the same thing. I don't see any problem with fans simply being disappointed with a band or television show's output, especially if their music meant a lot to you in the past or you devoted as much time into a show as Lost (for the record I was not too disappointed with Lost). It's when fans start to feel entitled that it gets annoying. Sure, maybe you supported Weezer early on when they needed it most, but in return they made music you enjoyed for a while. The way some of these fans talk, it's like they wish Weezer never existed at all than be disappointed by their current output.
This reminds me of all the Star Wars fans constantly ragging on Lucas because the prequels weren't exactly as they would have liked.
This guy isn't a fan at all though. If you read his thing he hates the band and is doing this because he "feels bad" for Weezer fans. What sucks is that I know that. F you to the journalist at the Seattle version of the Houston Press for making a story out some random d-bag's post on a public site.
It seems to me that most bands are good for only a few really good albums. Even some of my favorites. Just the nature of the business, I guess.
