    The story of the sharks attacking the initial survivors is a pure nightmare.

    Seriously.

    Most of the 1100 sailors survived and went into the water, just over 300 were found alive.

    That story gave me fits when I saw that movie and started my obsession with sharks

    She had just been on a secret mission to deliver parts of Little Boy to Tinian, which was one of the two atomic bombs later dropped on Japan. It was one of the Navy's greatest disasters during WWII. Truly a horror story. There's a good read about it in the New York Times.
