Bidder gives MSG seat to child of lost firefighter

NEW YORK -- The winner of a Web site auction for a courtside seat next to director Spike Lee for the New York Knicks' home opener won't be going despite spending $101,300 for the ticket.

Instead, the bidder, who remains anonymous, has donated the seat for Michael Jordan's return to the NBA to the child of one of the firefighters lost in attack on the World Trade Center.

The money for the ticket is going to Widows and Children's Fund set up by the New York Fire Department. The Fund will select the child who sits next to Lee, a regular at Madison Square Garden, for the game Tuesday night.

    Very nice story to read...

Wow, that is a nice story.

Even though part of me was hoping the anonymous bidder was Reggie Miller.

It would be cool if Spike Lee gave up his seat so the child could sit with his or her parent.

I'm sure Spike could find another seat for the game.

Not gonna happen. Spike is a huge basketball fan and he loves the camera/attention. I hope he proves me wrong though.
