Ok..we all hear awful stories about corporate America. How uncaring they are...how awful it is. But here's a story worth sharing. A lady I go to church with works for Trammel Crow (am i spelling that right??). Her son recently died. Very sad. She has tons of relatives coming in for the funeral...she has a ton of brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews from outside of Houston who are coming to support her. But they don't have much money. Her employer, Trammel Crow, finds out about this...they rent out 5 apartments...they stock the apartments with food and drinks...and they tell my friend, "your family can stay here for a month." "So shines a good deed in a weary world." -- Willie Wonka
Finally some good news about Corp. America...I read in the USA Today money section that a couple of Executives of Rite-Aid (???) who were involved in an acct. scandal were sentanced to prision...
It's good to hear good news about people helping those in need instead of all of those negitive stories that get the headlines.
From where did they embezzle the money to pay for those apartments? Sorry, I guess I'm still too jaded. My condolences to your fellow congregant. Outliving one's child is sad.
That's cool. Much nicer than when my friend's father fought with his family to deny benefits to him when he was in the hospital dying from heart failure after they had "laid him off" within six months of his full retirement. They then sent a REPRESENTATIVE of the company to the funeral. Glad to seem Trammel Crow did the right thing.
