For me, it's the Super Bowl specials following the 10 PM newscasts. I don't want to know how many bottles of Cristal rappers ordered, how much airfare/hotels/tickets cost, what's the nightly traffic situation, how much bling and ice is available at local jewelers, hear some dignitary or celebrity get stroked, watch a live report from a bar/club about how the party is "da bomb", see a reporter try to throw a football etc etc

I expect this from Channel 11 since they do not have a 4 PM newscast but Channel 2 and 13 are getting my nerves with their stupid retread reports.

For me, it's Pepsi's continued lame attempts to create some sort of awe inspiring way to sell their cola. Just put two scantily clad hotties in a small blowup swimming pool and fill it up with baby oil. Then have them wrestle around for twenty-eight seconds...then show two seconds of a Pepsi bottle.....I would immediately be a convert.:D

The fact that the local network that carries the superbowl doesn't run the cool new commercials, but instead shows old local ads. Grrr....

Since I'm not a big NFL fan anyway, I get tired of the hype. It's only one game, people. It's not the Olympic Games. I think most people go to parties and watch it just because of tradition; many of them haven't followed the rest of the season.

We usually completely ignore the game and use the day to go somewhere that's usually crowded (shopping, for instance, or outdoor stuff if it's not too cold). Nobody will be there because they're all watching the game.

Funny you mention that....I told my wife that some company could make a ton of money if they had a gigantic sale while the Super Bowl was going on. All of the Super Bowl widows and people not interested in football usually look for something interesting to do and visiting deserted malls or other such places would provide a great target audience for a sale.

So you have a problem with Pepsi's newest commercial (planned for air during the Super Bowl) featuring...

I can imagine how nuts the local news people would go over the Olympics. Every night would be expanded 2 hour newscasts to go over the samething over and over again. I can see it now...Cynthia Hunt would be assigned to report which Olympians are currently having sex in the Olympic Village.

When the media interviews someone else in the media.

That happens at every big event though.

I am sure there will be some station, whether it is TBS or something else, that will be showing an Andy Griffith show marathon on Sunday. IIRC, the ad even says "For those people who have no interest in the Super Bowl, we present the Andy Griffith Show marathon!" (or something to that effect)

I went to the Engine Room last nite to catch a few acts and had to pay $10 for parking instead of the usual 2 or 3. $10 was the price of the ticket! I guess some of that might have been due to the Rockets game, though. Still... dumb people makin' me pay more...

6% of the US work force calls in sick on the Monday after the Super Bowl.

    Celebrity parties.

"Come party with Betty White at the Gold Cup"

"Basil Rathbone's Super Bowl Bash at Bradys landing"

"Join us as we party with Pernell Whittaker at club Wildstyle"

    It's just ridiculous.
