wow. i guess they didn't like what they saw in Orlovsky? i thought this is who they should have gotten in the first place.
Comin' from a Chicagoan who followed Rex through Florida and then his stint in Chicago ya'll are gonna get a big LMAO from me Get ready to get disappointed Houston! Better start the search for the next backup to your backup asap!
Ugh.. what is with us and crappy QB's... Every year... we've had a problem at the QB spot... I expect it to continue this upcoming season. Grossman is basically another Schaub.
Grossman not getting the Heisman when he was a sophomore at Florida (snubbed for Crouch) was one of the biggest injustices in college football history, imo. He was dynamic back then. Beyond that, let's not really talk about anything. As an aside, some of the "QBs should be judged by wins and losses" crowd will have to be pleased. After all, Rex Grossman took his team to the Super Bowl. That must mean he's one of the elite QBs in the game.
Schaub is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Grossman. But he's the starter. If Schaub gets hurt, we're in trouble...same as last year. Most teams are in trouble if their starting QB goes down.
What exactly did you want out of a backup QB? If Grossman is another Schaub (he's not, but that's your viewpoint), is that not a GOOD thing, since Schaub is well above average when healthy? If you have two of those guys, health isn't nearly as much of a concern.
Um, I'm assuming you don't follow football much -- you couldn't try and find two QBs with styles more different. Grossman thrives on an electric arm and taking big gambles downfield -- some work, some don't. Schaub's arm is mediocre and relies more on underneath work and managing the game. One's problem is production; the other's is merely staying healthy. Not to mention the fact that, umm, Schaub is one of the better QBs in the game (top 12), while Grossman can't find a guaranteed backup job anywhere.
The Sex Cannon is one of the more dominant Florida QBs of our time... Easily besting the lofty NFL statistics put in place by greats like Steve Spurrier, Jesse Palmer, Doug Johnson, and the great Danny Weurful. Dan Orlovsky was a bad signing anyway. His roll out out of the back of the end zone was the signature moment on a team that went 0-16. Thats worse than the Rosencopter.
