Anybody help me. I donated a coach and a recliner to the salvation army. The coach was originally 1500 dollars and the recliner was 700 or so. The more general question is: does the irs have a preset limit of how much can be claimed against your taxes for these items. Is condition a consideration? The recliner was in perfect shape. The coach was in fair to okay shape.
Generally, you can claim what the item would sell for. There is no limit, but you need to have a receipt that a charitable origanzation received the items. Software like Deduction Pro gives a reasonable estimate of items.
