    Pakistanis go to war

Do we just allow them to cross over in their vans, buses, cars, etc. ? Or do we bomb them as they attempt to go? Why would we, in our right mind, allow these 5,000 or so people to reinforce the Taliban if we can avoid it.

If this is a convoy, then shouldn't we attack it like we attacked the Iraqi convoy pulling out of Kuwait. And we all know how that turned out.

If we do not take these people out, then what the ***** are we doing. I am starting to think the only way we are going to defeat the Taliban is by sending a massive ground force in. We know this bombing campaign is a joke. Sure, it takes out some troops and tanks, planes, helicopters, facilities, etc. . However, this is not going to get rid of the majority of fighters, Al Quaeda, and the Taliban soldiers.

This war is turning into a joke. What the hell are we even doing? Commandos are not going to be able to take out all of their troops. The Northern Alliance is a joke compared to the Taliban. They won't even attack. Whatever....this will go on forever. If were not going in heavily on the ground, then I'm afraid we are on the path to nowhere. Are we expecting them all to starve or turn on each other...fat chance?

Is Pakistan aiding the terrorists? Umm......damn straight.

Well let them go into the war at their own risk. If they are willing to die for an unjust cause, then let em die.

It is disturbing to read that so many are ignorant of the truth, we need to get our propaganda machine working over there pronto.

It would be stupid to let these @sscakes make it to the front lines to support the taliban army.

It's a shame that after all the US has done to help muslim peoples around the world, they still buy into the propaganda that this is a war against islam.

Some men ya just can't reach.....

The big concern here is that...

    1. The Taliban is much more resiliant than first imagined (anyone remeber the Viet Cong?)

    2. After 3 weeks of constant bombing, nothing has really changed.

    3. The continual bombing campaign is eroding support not just in the Arab world, but also throughout Europe and even in America. Recent polls suggest that Americans are already concerned that the war in Afghanistan will create more problems than it will solve.

    4. We don't have a clear objective. One day, Rumsfeld is saying that we may never get bin Laden, the next he's saying we will. One day, we are going after all states involved in terrorism, the next this is a campaign based on specific attacks.

We've already bombed the same Red Cross warehouse TWICE by accident and things are not getting better. Russia warned the US it wouldn't be easy to deal with Afghanistan. I'd hate to see this turn into another Vietnam.

I don't believe the Taliban are more resilient...I do believe the Russians were right, though. The lay of the land in Afghanistan doesn't allow for bombing raids to get the job done entirely. At some point, there will have to be some significant troop movements on the ground. But instead of second-guessing and acting like I know more than military experts I'll assume: 1. US troops are already there in some limited fashion, and/or, 2. they're very close to opening up a major can of whoop-ass there after softening up the place with air strikes.

Second -- I don't think this could ever be another Vietnam. There was great deal of dispassion here for a war that never touched the daily lives of US citizens. If 9/11 isn't enough, then we ought to just close up shop and go home. I'll follow my roots back to Ireland and try to avoid that brand of terrorism. Oddly enough, it was that Irish brand of terrorism that brought my family to the States...a relative was a Protestant minister who was hung by the Catholics there. All of a sudden I hear the familiar tune of a Billy Joel hit....."we didn't start the fire..."

There is no question more support for this than Vietnam, but how long will that last? I mean, if we are still in Afghanistan 5 years from now trying to topple the Taliban and we've spent billions on a war and lost thousands of lives, what will the polls look like then?
