So I am about to buy a 7.1 receiver. I had planned on running 5.1 in the living room and having the second zone be the dining room. I thought of the idea of having zone 2 connect to a speaker selector so I could then run speakers to the patio and kitchen. So in my mind I could pick what zone go the power from zone 2. Not all at once.

When I research speaker selectors it seems like they all split the signal. Doesn't this drop the impedance of the receiver down and lower the volume over all?

While I would love to have sound in the living, dining, kitchen and patio at once I don't want to damage the receiver.

Is this what I am looking for in a product?
