I'm new to the tailgating thing as this is my second year for season tickets here in San Diego. I've got DirecTV this year so I can watch the Texans in the morning, then head into the game and watch the Chargers.

Does anyone have good experience with providing power while tailgating? Any generators you can suggest that are fairly quiet?

For this weekend, I've bought a Deep Cycle Marine Battery, a battery charger for it, and a 400W Inverter (All of which costs about $115), but I am not sure how long/well that is going to work. Anyone have any better ideas for providing power?

How many extensions? Do you plan on having the truck running?

I'm actually planning on running it independent of the car with the main reason being that I've used the car battery before and it just doens't seem to last long without the car running and I don't want the noise of my car and wasting gas.

The Setup I bought for this weekend is actually a battery that is going to sit on the ground with an inverter connected to it (hence the stand-alone charger for afterwards). This deep cycle battery is supposed to be made more for running it down a recharging whereas a car battery is made for starting your car and it is not supposed to be discharged fully. I just don't know how long/well it will actually last out there.

I've seen generators at stadiums before that run on gas and are very quiet, but all the ones I seem to look at will make you go deaf after 3 hours even though the advertisement says it is quiet.

I'll be using 3 plugs and I am guessing about 200 Watts of power.

This is what I'd go with. Best deal I could find. Email to see if he can ship it to you early. He's in L.A.

    $155.00 doesn't seem too bad.
