I was curious, I have been with Cingular now for a little over a year on a two year contract - however, have had some issues with my service. Anyways, I was thinking of possibly switching to another service, not sure who as of yet, but is it worth it or should I finish out my contract with Cingular first. If I do decide to leave, how do I, and what kind of fees will I incur for breaking the contract with them.

The other issue is I was looking at getting mobile internet service for my laptop, since I travel alot, however if I do this with Cingular I add another two years if I don't want to pay full price for the card and service. Has anybody used this service in the past, does it work well, especially if you are different cities in the US?

Any advice on this would be appreciated.....

That's why you never ever ever sign a contract. It is worth the $50 to $100 that you will pay extra for a phone.

I don't know what Cingular's fees are but with most cell phone companies, it involves your ass and variable amounts of raping.

I used to be Cingular, and on a whim I decided to switch to Verizon because they had better coverage.

I should have known better, since I was on a contract, but I received a bill from Cingular for $175 for breaking the contract. Still, I never regretted switching to Verizon!

Currently using Cingular, but was originally with AT&T Wireless before getting bought out. I don't remember exactly when it expired, but I was on a 2-year contract that seemed to be the best at the time (1200min., free weekends and nights - starting at 7 p.m., mobile-to-mobile free, all for $69), which I shared with my wife. Only ONCE did we go over the minutes and even then it was just a few. Now the minutes roll over, and we always have some to spare for the next month.

I don't know what happened to that contract, but I heard that Cingular would want us to change phones to theirs just to be in their network, and that we had to change to plans that offered less time. It never happened. We did, however, want to get out of the contract when they started charging us more than we talked, and that cleared out but we never got out of the contract. It is done and overwith now, but I don't really have to change to another plan. I hope they don't make us.

I don't understand how people switch cell phone companies so much. Yeah, everyone has problems, yeah, everyone has bad reception everywhere, so... why change? Eff the hassle.

What were the issues with YOUR service, Rocketball? Why not just WARDRIVE with your laptop? :D
