Single biggest mistake this season in trade/ FA market?

?

Agree? Or not? Or no diff...

  1. I agree, we missed out on Ward... He could have lifted the game, or sparked it, kept it going.

  2. Nope. Ward wasn't the answer at back-up pg.

  3. Either way, we needed something else. It didn't make a difference at all.

IMO the single biggest mistake this past year was not acquiring Charlie Ward, and settling for Mark "decrepid, but a good passer" Jackson.

We needed spark at the pg back-up. We really only got a pulse with limited handles, speed, and some good dish skills. MJ had no legs that equaled no shot.

I know it's hindsight. But IMO Ward was the puzzle piece. Aside from the Cato at pf experiment (that could work still) our back-up pg was seriously left wanting.

This offseason the main areas to address would be a back-up pg, and a better pf (as has been said here ad nauseum).

Seriously though, Ward was a keeper we let get away... and apparently over a mere lack of religious congruence with the owner.

How shallow... about as shallow as the bench play was in the playoffs.

    Thanks Les.

Charlie Ward has been GLUED to the bench here in San Antonio. Not just one, but two free agent little knowns have received playing time ahead of him in backing up Parker. The way it's worked out, Pop would've even played Wilks ahead of him if Wilks was a Spur.

I am not so sure we passed on Ward for Mark Jackson. As I understand it, Ward made the decision himself to go to SA because he could be the backup and get a chance at a ring. Interesting that he isnt seeing ANY playing time for SA. Hart is getting all the backup minutes at PG. That has to burn Ward a bit. Interesting that Pop feels that Hart is better for the team. I wonder what it is that Ward isnt doing that has put him on the bench.

I still feel he would be a nice backup PG for the Rockets, especially if you could get him for the veteran's minimum.

Antonio Daniels would've made a bigger impact for us than Ward, but he chose to go to Seattle instead.
