Nothing at the trade deadline, nothing at the buyout market.....So, nothing out of my pockets! I normally attend between 10-15 games a yr. I use to attend more but because of the distance and the traffic, I backed off. Now with what this IDIOT Stone said, I chose to watch from afar. He's not trying, neither am I.
I feel your pain. I went into the season with high hopes - thinking with a little injury luck the Rockets could compete against the Thunder. Why bother now that the injury bug hit the Rockets and they look like crap against the Real Contenders? #1 is the young core hasn't even reached their prime years. I watch to see the growth/lack there of... and play armchair GM. I want to see if Ime can get the current roster to outperform in the playoffs. For me, if Ime is going to be the coach in 2-3 years, he has to be able to get the young guys motivated for the rest of this season. The Rockets strategy for this year failed. Neither Amen or Sengun developed a jump short so the season was on shaky ground after the FVV injury and went down the tubes with the Adams season ending injury. It never made sense to me to mortgage the future to maybe lose in 6 or 7 games in round 2 versus a round 1 exit or round 2 sweep. The biggest trades were for flawed or injury prone stars that look overpaid on their current contracts - JJJ, AD, and Trae Young. We couldn't trade for those players without trading Sengun or KD. Jabari & FVV are not really tradable until the summer. I expect big changes in the off season, but for now... I watch to see if the young guys can fight through their growing pains and come out stronger.
Wait? If @himbasketball isn't trying, who is going to b**** about every small thing Reed does wrong? J/K I feel ya, after the SA game I have significantly lowered my expectations - I don't think Ime will be able to work it out, and I think we are doing it completely wrong with KD.... We aren't good enough on the floor, and on the bench. DD
My older son drove to SA to root on the Rockets the other day...he may have been the only one from Houston who bothered to show up
As long as the team hasn't given up, neither will I. I mean, they look freaking over their head sometimes, but I like the effort and fight I see out of some of our guys. I just need to see the effort to figure it out and keep fighting. F Stone. For that matter F Ime. And F Durant when he's sulky. As long as the young guys keep fighting through screens and taking it strong to the basket I'll be there.
I think you got it WRONG as usual! I didn't say don't try....that's what Stone is doing. I said, don't BUY! I stop spending $$ supporting
I'm pretty pissed at the organization for what they've done leading up to and extending after the trade deadline, but I'll still follow the team because I enjoy doing it. They took a big swing and missed. I can live with that, but the complacency that they have shown with this obviously flawed roster tells me that they aren't really serious about winning, despite trading for Kevin Durant. I mean, what was the point of making that trade if you weren't going to actually go for it this season? They screwed up a good thing and then half assed it.
It was such a dumb thing to say. You think it, fine. Probably a lot of coaches and executives think that about their teams, most don’t say it, especially when they’re in the top four of their conference in the standings. That mindset trickles down through the franchise once it’s said aloud. We live in a world where cynicism and pessimism are greatly rewarded. The default attitude most people seem comfortable living with… In sports, can’t we make room for a little bit of hope?
Exactly! It's been over a month and that statement still pisses me off! I am just baffled. As a longtime fan and paying customer, it makes me feel I am just wasting my money if I go to Toyota Center to see them play
I never like giving up... i dont even like tanking with purpose - sets a bad precedent for loser behavior... imo... u never know whats gonna happen... if Shia and Wemby go down, we'd have a real shot of making the finals.... I understand the realization that without FVV and Adams our odds have grown much longer... but i still would have liked to see some token gesture at the deadline... not mortgage the future for 1 year rental or something... but something... smdh
They made the KD trade and went for it with a vet cast including FVV and Adams. Too bad FVV and Adams got injured. Rockets are capped out cuz they went for it they are only 1M under the apron thats why you didnt see any moves at the deadline. Theres nothing complacent about the Rockets they literally traded for KD in the summer. The good thing you mean Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green? Brooks has an efficiency only slightly higher than Sengun and Green is scoring at 38% FG and shooting in the 20s from 3. Thats screwing up a good thing? Next year KD will only make 10M more than Jalen.
With only 1M under the apron what token gesture you think they could do? Thats even less than veteran minimum unless they give up future assets and salary in return they cant even get a minimum back
My expectations were lowered WELL before the SA game. In fact, that game reinforced my lack of belief in this team as a serious contender in this year's playoffs.
It’s awful being mediocre. We managed to waste a bunch of Olajuwon years (pre-championship) being a .500 team. The issue with this team is we don’t have an Olajuwon or Harden to build around. And I’m not sure if the pieces we’ve got are good. Not counting KD, does anyone on this roster project to be 1-2 on a championship team? I don’t think so.
